A recent report from the Connected Commerce Council, a nonprofit that advocates for small businesses and their access to digital tools, highlights the positive impact technology has had on Florida’s small businesses. According to the 2021 Digitally Driven Report, companies that made big investments in digital tools during the pandemic saw twice the amount of sales and hired twice the amount of employees.
With social distancing and customer confidence affecting the economy, businesses turned toward social media to reach customers and E-Commerce sites to make sales. In fact, 79% of Florida’s small businesses feel digital tools are either “important” or “essential” in operating their business.

Other key findings of the report include:
Nearly all (97%) digitally advanced small businesses adopted new digital tools and business strategies during the pandemic, while only half (51%) of digitally uncertain businesses did.
Digitally advanced businesses retained customers at a 3.2X better rate and acquired new customers at a 20X better rate during the pandemic than digitally skeptical businesses.
Digitally advanced small businesses found digital tools to be 3X more helpful for running their businesses now vs. pre-pandemic
