Christopher ("Chris") Pettit is a distinguished advisor to our Institute, bringing a wealth of expertise in water and environmental sectors. As a nationally-recognized expert, Chris has a profound background in policy development, grant and cost share programs, project management, contractual negotiations, and data management. His career includes key leadership roles, including serving as the Executive Director of the Washington State Water Conservation Commission and the Director of the Office of Agricultural Water Policy at the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Through senior positions at Palm Beach County, the Southwest Florida Water Management District, and the South Florida Water Management District, Chris has been pivotal in overseeing Everglades Restoration projects, regulatory development, statewide conservation initiatives, and various water and wastewater programs. Chris holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Florida, an L.L.M. in International and Environmental Law from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political History and Economics from the New College of Florida. His comprehensive experience and education underpin his advisory role, driving innovative solutions for water-related challenges at our institute.
